RESIDENCE HALL STUDENTS
First Year Students - First year students
living in the residence halls are prohibited from purchasing
parking permits for campus parking. The policy is necessary
due to a continued increase in residence hall overnight parking
requirements concurrent with reduced parking availability
on campus.
To meet the many competing demands for a limited parking resource, first year students living in the residence halls will not be permitted to bring a vehicle to campus or purchase an OSU parking permit. Please contact T&P at tpinfo@osu.edu or call 614-292-9341 (or toll free 1-800-877-PARK) with questions, concerns or
alternative transportation and parking options. In addition, the South Campus Gateway Garage has limited space availability in their facility. For more information on the Gateway Garage, please contact Parking Solutions.
Please note: The number of credit hours accumulated does not change the permit eligibility status of First Year Students living in the residence halls. (For example, a First Year Student living in the residence halls who has 50 credit hours still cannot purchase a parking permit.)
Sophomores (45-89 credit hours) - Sophomore
residence hall students are eligible to purchase the following parking
permits: WC5 (West Campus surface parking with overnight
privileges in Carmack 5 on West Campus) and MC (motorcycle
parking). In
addition, sophomores may purchase visitor permits (TS - temporary
single day or TM - temporary multi-day) for their visitors
coming to campus.
Juniors, Seniors, and Grad. Students (90+ credit
hours or grad. status) - Junior,
senior, or grad. residence hall students are eligible to purchase the
following parking permits: WC5 (West Campus surface parking
with overnight privileges in Carmack 5 on West Campus), CP
(Central Campus surface parking with overnight privileges
in CP spaces on Central Campus - limited availability), and MC (motorcycle parking). In
addition, visitor permits may be purchased (TS - temporary
single day or TM - temporary multi-day) for their visitors
coming to campus.
For detailed parking permit information, please see the Parking Permit Details page.

and their appointment paperwork has already been submitted to T&P by their hiring department may apply on-line. If the papework was not submitted to T&P by their hiring department, they must come in to our office with a photocopy of their appointment
letter or departmental documents.
Also, T&P offers a limited number of staff daytime "BG" garage permits to commuter graduate students who hold a paid appointment. Available garages are: "BG1", which allows access to Northwest, Tuttle, Arps, and Lane Ave. garages, "BG2", which allows access to the 9th Ave. West, 9th Ave. East, and South Cannon garages, and "BG3" which allows access to the Ohio Union North and 11th Ave. garages.
