During the past few months, we have been busy preparing to welcome our new car sharing vendor to the campus of The Ohio State University. I'm pleased to announce that that time has come. Welcome, Connect by Hertz!
Connect by Hertz (a division of the Hertz Corporation) offers vehicles by the hour or by the day for low rates that include fuel, insurance, maintenance and campus parking. The OSU fleet currently consists of Toyota Camrys, Ford Escapes and Toyota Prius Hybrids, all of which are EPA SmartWay certified for low emissions. Ten vehicles spread out over four locations around campus with more locations possible as use dictates, ensures that a vehicle will be close to you when you need it.
To give the campus community the opportunity to try out the service, Connect by Hertz is offering a promotional registration at no charge! Simply follow the steps below to get started:
1) Visit http://www.connectbyhertz.com and select your location as "The Ohio State University" toward the middle-left of the screen.
- If you see the list of locations, but cannot click on any of the links, you will need to clear your cookies from your web browser, then refresh the page. (For instructions on clearing cookies from your browser, visit your browser's help menu or Google "instructions for clearing cookies".)
- If you already have a location stored, confirm that you are set to Ohio State by clicking on the "change location" link at the bottom-right of your screen, then selecting "The Ohio State University".
2) Click the "Join" link at the top-right of the screen.
3) Select the plan that's right for you. (The "Connect" plan is the standard plan)
4) Follow the steps associated to finish the registration process. To do so, you'll need your driver's license information, credit card and contact information.
5) When prompted to enter a promotional code or "CDP" code, enter one of the following:
- For OSU Students: CDP #: 1845256
- For OSU Faculty / Staff: CDP#: 1845255
These codes will ensure that your one-time application fee of $25 and your first year annual membership fee of $50 are both waived. Be sure to register now to take advantage of the limited promotional period. If you have friends that you believe would be interested in joining under this promotional opportunity, feel free to send this information to them.
Once you register, Connect by Hertz will process your information and send you your access card in the mail within 5-7 business days. Then, you're ready to reserve!
