2009-2010 Policies and Procedures: Parking Permits (cont.)

STUDENT PERMIT ELIGIBILITY

Dorm/Residence Hall Students

First Year Students
– First year students living in the residence halls are prohibited from purchasing parking permits for campus parking. The policy is necessary due to a continued increase in residence hall overnight parking requirements concurrent with reduced parking availability on campus.

To meet the many competing demands for a limited parking resource, first year students living in the residence halls will not be permitted to bring a vehicle to campus or purchase an OSU parking permit. Please contact T&P at tpinfo@osu.edu or call 614-292-9341 (or toll free 1-800-877-PARK) with questions, concerns or alternative transportation and parking options.

Please note: The number of credit hours accumulated does not change the permit eligibility status of First Year Students living in the dorms. (For example, a First Year Student living in the dorms who has 50 credit hours still cannot purchase a parking permit.)

Sophomores (45-89 credit hours) – Sophomore dorm students are eligible to purchase the following parking permits: WC5 (West Campus surface parking with overnight privileges in Carmack 5 on West Campus) and MC (motorcycle parking). In addition, sophomores may purchase visitor permits (TS - temporary single day or TM - temporary multi-day) for their visitors coming to campus.

Juniors, Seniors, and Grad. Students (90+ credit hours or grad. status) – Junior, senior, or grad. dorm students are eligible to purchase the following parking permits: WC5 (West Campus surface parking with overnight privileges in Carmack 5 on West Campus), CP (Central Campus surface parking with overnight privileges in CP spaces on Central Campus - limited availability), and MC (motorcycle parking). In addition, visitor permits may be purchased (TS - temporary single day or TM - temporary multi-day) for their visitors coming to campus.

Commuter Students

Freshmen and Sophomores (0-89 credit hours) – Freshmen and sophomore commuter students are eligible to purchase the following parking permits: WC (West Campus surface parking, no overnight privileges), WCE (West Campus surface parking with evening garage privileges, no overnight privileges), "CX" (Commuter Parking for the Ackerman Road Complex), or MC (motorcycle parking). The "CXC" permit is valid at the Ackerman Road Complex and the Buckeye Lot.

Juniors, Seniors, and Grad. Students (90+ credit hours or grad. status) – Junior, senior, or grad. commuter students are eligible to purchase the following parking permits: WC (West Campus surface parking, no overnight privileges), WCE (West Campus surface parking with evening garage privileges, no overnight privileges), C (Central Campus surface parking, no overnight privileges), CE (Central Campus surface parking with evening garage privileges, no overnight privileges), "CX" (Commuter Parking for the Ackerman Road Complex)), or MC (motorcycle parking). In addition, these students may purchase a CG parking permit if available. Please see the page for details regarding the purchase of these permits. The "CXC" permit is valid at the Ackerman Road Complex and the Buckeye Lot.

Grad. Students with Appointments – In addition to the above, graduate students with appointments (GRA, GTA, GAA, and Fellows) have the option of purchasing a "B", "WB", or "BE" parking permit instead of a student permit. These permits may only be purchased by visiting 160 Bevis Hall or mailing a "B" staff application to our office since a copy of your departmental appointment letter or departmental contract is needed at the time of purchase for verification purposes.
