The Ohio State University Campus Crosswalks Study
This project developed a plan to identify optimum pedestrian crossings on the Columbus campus for The Ohio State University, and developed design standards to visually identify and distinguish crosswalks. The study verified priority pedestrian movement on campus, and clarified assumptions of pedestrian behavior in order to understand pedestrian and vehicular conflict points, locations, and the reasons why. The consultant team was led by JJR, a campus planning and landscape architecture firm in Ann Arbor , MI , with subconsultants Gorove Slade & Associates, a transportation planning firm from Washington DC , and Project for Public Spaces, a non-profit organization based in New York that specializes in pedestrian analysis.
